December 1, 2014
On September 15th, the Osnaburg Board of Education adopted the Ohio Department of Education Blizzard Bag policy for this, 2014-15 school year. This policy allows the district three additional calamity days with the caveat that students are working on classroom assignments at home during this time.
How it Works:
When we experience a calamity day after our allocated five days, teachers will post an assignment online (school website: www.ecweb.sparcc.org) for that day. Students are given two weeks to turn in the assignment, and once it’s completed, students receive credit for day of class. One of the benefits of the program is that students receive work from every class, and those without Internet access can receive the assignments when they return to school. The link for the Blizzard Bags will be on each school building’s home page. Clicking on “Blizzard Bags” will provide teacher links. The students will click on the teacher’s name to view the assignments.
We believe this program is a positive and proactive way to deal with the uncertainty surrounding winter weather. Through the Blizzard Bag program, we can keep our students learning while they are at home.
If you have further questions about the Blizzard Bag program, please contact your building principal or the administrative office at 330-488-1609 for more information.
